Privacy Policy for the “Radio AM” app
Last updated: 28 July 2026
This privacy policy explains how the “Radio AM” app for iOS and Android (the “app”) handles your data. It applies to this app only, not to any websites, app stores or third-party social media profiles.
1. Controller
The controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:
Andreas Maier
Dürerstr. 14, 73547 Lorch, Germany
Email: andreas_maier@me.com
2. No data protection officer
No data protection officer under Art. 37 GDPR has been appointed, as there is no legal obligation to do so (sole individual, no large-scale processing of personal data). For any privacy questions, please contact the controller directly.
3. Overview and principle
“Radio AM” is an internet radio player. The controller operates no servers of his own and does not collect, receive or store any personal data of users.
- There is no registration, no user account and no sign-in.
- The app contains no analytics or tracking SDKs, no advertising, no advertising identifiers and no crash reporting to third parties. No usage profiles are created.
- The station list ships with the app and is not fetched from a server. There is no directory service the app queries.
- Your favourites, self-added stations, country selection and settings are stored locally on your device only and never leave it.
- The app records nothing and downloads no content.
To do its job, however, the app connects to the stream server of the station you select. As with any internet connection, this unavoidably transmits your IP address to that server. This data does not reach the controller; it is processed by the broadcaster or its service provider under their own responsibility. See section 4.
4. Third-party connections
The app makes one kind of connection only: to the stream of the station you choose to listen to.
- Recipient: the respective broadcaster or the streaming company it has commissioned, each as its own controller. Which station that is, you determine by your selection. Their own privacy policy applies.
- Data transmitted: your IP address and technical connection data (time of request, requested address, player identifier). The app sends no identifier that would make you or your device recognisable.
- Purpose: playback of the programme you selected.
- Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (providing the function you requested).
- Transfers outside the EEA: the bundled catalogues contain only stations from the countries the app is offered in, whose stream servers are generally located in Europe. If you add a station of your own with an address outside the EEA, the connection goes there — that choice is yours.
As long as you do not start a station, the app makes no network connection at all.
5. Data stored locally
| What | Where | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Favourites | the device’s local settings store | until you remove them or delete the app |
| Self-added stations (name and stream address) | the device’s local settings store | until you delete them or remove the app |
| Selected country, last station played, interface state | the device’s local settings store | until you remove the app |
This data is not transmitted, neither to the controller nor to third parties. A device backup (e.g. iCloud) may include it at the operating system’s discretion; the app has no influence on that.
6. Permissions
The app requests no special permissions: no location, no contacts, no microphone, no camera, no photos, no notifications. It only needs network access to play streams and background audio so that sound continues when the screen is locked.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21), as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77).
Because the controller collects and stores no personal data about you, he cannot in practice act on these rights with regard to the app — there simply is no data. All data created in the app resides on your device; you delete it by removing the entries or the app. For data held by a broadcaster, please contact that broadcaster.
Supervisory authority for the controller: Landesbeauftragter für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit Baden-Württemberg, Lautenschlagerstraße 20, 70173 Stuttgart, Germany.
8. Children
The app is not directed at children and collects no data from children.
9. Changes to this policy
This policy is updated when the app changes. The version available here is the applicable one; the date above states its status.
